The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), announced on November 25, 2021, that it is open to new bids for the construction of the pier. This is the second round of the bid for the new “Fiscal Dock” in Puerto Armuelles.

The previous tender to construct the dock had two bids, but they were rejected. According to AMP, “the Verification Commission of the Bidding recommended through a report, based on Article 59 of Law 22 of 2006, ordered by Law 153 of 2020, to declare it void, since the two proposals presented did not meet the requirements requested in the statement of objections.”

The long awaited pier project will be a huge boost to the economy of Puerto Armuelles. The direct impact on the economy that the construction of this dock will bring, will promote creation of jobs and the reactivation of tourism, not only in the area but in the entire West of Chiriqui. The project which is valued at approximately 20 million dollars, includes the study, design, development and approval of the plans and construction of the New Fiscal Dock of Puerto Armuelles, as well as the supply of furniture, tools, equipment and materials necessary for the operation of the offices and the docks area.

The Tender for Bid is already uploaded on the website of the Electronic System of Public Procurement, Panama Compras (www.panamacompras.gob.pa). You can see the official notice here: Construction of the new Fiscal Dock of Puerto Armuelles
