August 12, 2015: Panama Declared in State of Emergency

www.visitpuertoarmuelles.comAn Executive Order by the government of Panama has declared a:

State of Emergency Due to Drought.

 

The Executive Order has been declared because of the adverse impacts of El Niño 2015-2016 and will be in effect for 60 days after the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on El Niño indicates that the temperature of the equatorial tropical Pacific Ocean is below 0.5 degrees Celsius.

This measure includes:

  • prohibiting of the use of tap water on gardens and in public areas. 
  • there will be no permits issued for burning of plant debris.

This State of Emergency is in effect throughout the country.
