Food trucks have come a long way—and Drakos, parked on a downtown corner in Puerto Armuelles, is raising the bar. What looks like a simple street setup turns out to be a hidden gem serving up big flavor and even bigger portions.
We stumbled on Drakos one night after our go-to beachfront spot was unexpectedly closed. With no plans to cook and hunger setting in, we took a chance on the unassuming truck glowing on the corner. One bite in and we were hooked.
The staff greeted us with friendly, no-fuss service and our food was out in a reasonable time. We ordered a juicy cheeseburger with fries and a full order of chicken wings—half tossed in zesty Buffalo, the other in sweet chili sauce.
Let’s talk burger: this was no ordinary patty. It was thick, juicy, and full of flavor, served with just the right condiments on a perfectly toasted bun. The secret? The owner told us they use imported Angus beef, and you can absolutely taste the difference. Preço $8.50 for the angus burger.
And the wings? WOW. These were massive, meaty wings, not the skimpy kind—crispy on the outside, tender inside, and bursting with flavor. The Buffalo sauce had that nostalgic, tangy kick that reminded us of the best sports bars in the States. The sweet chili wings were sticky, savory, and addictively sweet. Other sauce options included BBQ, Agridulce, and honey mustard. Add a side of cool ranch dip and fresh celery sticks? Heaven. Preço $7.50 for 10 wings.
